Infertility Frequently Asked Questions

What treatment options do infertile couples have?

There are several different therapeutic options for infertile couples, depending on the type of infertility that has been diagnosed. For example, in case of ovulatory problems, the vast majority of female patients can be successfully treated with the administration of drugs such as clomiphene citrate or gonadotropins. In case of tubal damage, in vitro fertilization (IVF) is the preferred treatment. In cases of male infertility, surgical reconstruction, intrauterine insemination (IUI), in vitro fertilization (IVF), or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) are the most common therapeutic options, depending on the severity of the subfertility. Finally, for women who unable to use their own eggs, or men who are unable to produce sperm, pregnancy may still be achieved using donor eggs or sperm.
